At the Beach - Part 2
The fun continues! We spent the morning at the beach. Katelyn met a new friend named Kate who was also three years old. They were so cute playing together! Kate has a little brother just 7 days younger than Owen. :) Here's a quick video of Katelyn and Kate playing in the water.
The afternoon was spent back in the room for naps and showers. For dinner we went to San Destin to Baytowne Wharf. It is a really neat village type place with lots of shops and restaurants. It is a very cool atmosphere! We had dinner at Poppy's Hammerheads. It was the first seafood place at the beach that I've ever been to that didn't have a single fried food on the menu! :) Here are some pics from another fun day!

Tomorrow we are heading to Big Kahuna's - a local water park and hopefully an afternoon dolphin cruise. What fun!

At the Beach - Part 1
The Mercers are on vacation! We arrived at The Crescent at Miramar Beach in Destin, FL yesterday afternoon. We are so excited to be able to stay with Aunt Kaye and company (Adam, Lindsey, Baylor, Hunter, and Andrew). Today we hung out on the beach and enjoyed the beautiful weather. The water here is so crystal clear and just breathtaking. Katelyn was so excited to get here. She has been asking me all week when we would be "on vacation". Owen was such a trooper at the beach. He just chilled out under the tent most of the day. Bart is scheduled to arrive later this evening. Here are a few pictures from our fun day.

Playdate at Surfside Water Park
For a couple months now Surfside Water Park has been running a commercial on TV that causes Katelyn to just stop in her tracks everytime it comes on. She says "Mommy, I want to go to the water park!" She forgets that we have been every summer since she was born! :) Needless to say she was very excited this year for our annual playdate at Surfside in Auburn on Tuesday. All the babies stayed at home and it was a special day out for the "big kids". We had a great turn out and all the kids (and adults) had a wonderful time.
Here are a few images from our fun day!
For a trip down memory lane to realize just how much they have grown you can see images from 2007 at www.lorimercer.com/waterpark07 and from 2006 at www.lorimercer.com/surfside.

Summer Fun with Kinley and Hilton
Last Tuesday we met Wendy, Kinley and Hilton at the Bell Road YMCA for a little fun in the pool. The girls has a blast! Hilton said the water was too cold and decided to hang out on the side. Owen just chilled out in his bouncy seat like a perfect angel! Here are few pics. To see the entire gallery click here.

We made the (online) newspaper!
Katelyn, Owen and I went to the Wetumpka Public Library today for their weekly story hour. Katelyn loves to go whenever we can. We were late as usual but got there in time for the craft time. I read a few stories to them after it was over. Mickey Welsh from the Montgomery Advertiser was there taking some pictures for an article on the upcoming ribbon cutting for the new expansion of the library. He got a few pictures of us that turned out great! To see the entire photo gallery click here. Please let me know if you see a story in the newspaper about this!

He did it!!
Owen slept through the night!! Woohoo!! I woke up this morning at 4:30am and realized that I had not heard from Owen all night after putting him down to sleep at 9:00pm. That first realization that your child has slept through the night is the happiest and scariest of all. I immediately woke up Bart (who was really awake but kept hitting the snooze button) to tell him about Owen and his first response was "Is he alright?" Yikes! I have to admit I was a bit nervous walking into his room. I placed my hand on his chest and he moved. Whew! A sigh of relief! Then the excitement rushed through me! Yeah! Yippee!! I survived!! He will be 10 weeks old tomorrow. I believe Katelyn was 10 weeks also when she first started sleeping through the night. I'm off to find the baby book to mark this momentous occasion! What a wonderful day! :)
It's Time!
Okay, I have mulled over this long enough! It's time to just get this party started! I started blogging about Katelyn back in January 2006 when she was 7 months old. I kept up with it for over a year and have since just really let it go. I hate that because I really enjoyed it even though it took some time to keep it going. To this day Katelyn and I love to look back at the old posts and relive those days. To see the original blog go to www.xanga.com/LoriMercer. I vowed that I would pick it up again with Owen and two months after his birth I have continued to let it slide. Lots of peer pressure and the presense of my failing memory has encouraged me to start again. I'll never remember all these precious times if I don't write them down. My ongoing battle with wanting everything to be perfect has kept me from getting started. I have to realize that it will never be perfect and this will be a "work in progress." Can you hear me talking to myself?!? Without further adue...
